Connect your AI assistant to the cofinance.land wiki
cofinance.land keeps a hand-written wiki on how groups pay for shared housing in Europe: housing cooperatives, Baugruppen, the Mietshäuser Syndikat, KfW and state programmes, municipal land, and the legal forms that decide which of them a group can reach. Any AI assistant that speaks MCP can look things up in it directly. Reading is free and needs no account.
Are you an AI reading this? Go to the guide written for you. Wiring a client by hand? See the developer reference.
What your assistant can do with it
Search and read the wiki (free)
318 pages today, each with its sources and the date a person last checked it. Your assistant can search, list, and read any page, and pull the funding programmes on file.
Ask a question, get a sourced answer (paid)
ask_wiki reads the wiki for you and writes an answer that only uses what the wiki says. It costs about one chat turn’s worth of credits and needs you to sign in.
Every result tells the assistant when the page was last verified and links the original source, so it can cite KfW or the Syndikat rather than citing us.
Connect in two minutes
Claude (web or desktop app)
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it anything, and paste this address:
https://mcp.cofinance.land/mcp - Under Authentication, pick “Required when the server asks”. The free tools then work straight away, and Claude will ask you to sign in with your cofinance.land account only when you use the paid one.
- Press Add, then Connect. Signing in happens on cofinance.land; we never see your Claude password.
Picking “None” also works for the free tools, but the paid tool will stay out of reach.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http cofinance-land https://mcp.cofinance.land/mcpTo use the paid tool from the terminal, create a key in Settings → API keys and add --header "Authorization: Bearer cfl_live_…".
Claude Desktop config file, or any other MCP client
{
"mcpServers": {
"cofinance-land": {
"type": "http",

}Any client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP will do. Point it at the address above; no key is needed for reading.
What is free and what costs money
- Free, no account: searching, listing and reading pages, and the funding-programme list. These never spend anything.
- Paid:
ask_wiki, the only tool that runs an AI model on our side. It uses the same prepaid credits as the rest of cofinance.land (1 credit = €0.01), roughly one chat turn per question, and every answer states what it cost. There is no subscription. If your balance is empty the call is refused before anything runs, and the free tools keep working.
Know what it is, and is not
- Coverage varies by jurisdiction. The wiki includes German, Italian and Spanish funding and legal notes, including Catalonia. National frameworks, territorial calls and household eligibility are distinguished on each page. Countries you do not see are not covered yet.
- “Nothing found” means “not in the wiki yet”. It does not mean no such funding exists. The assistant is told to say so rather than guess.
- Dates matter. Some pages were last checked years ago and some carry numbers that move. Every result says when it was last verified; treat old dates as a warning.
- It is not advice. Check every figure against the linked source before a real decision.
You can read the whole wiki yourself at wiki.cofinance.land.
